As I was saying last week when the pitchers weren’t giving up runs, at some point these Indians starters are going to give up a run or two and the struggling bats are not going to be able to provide the support for the win.
C.C. appears fully back to his Cy Young form; last night going seven, striking out eight, and giving up two runs. Of course that wasn’t enough as the offense could only muster one run Jose Contreras and the White Sox relievers.
For the offense, Jhonny Peralta was on the bench for the second straight game. I guess because his .225 batting average with power is worse then Asdrubal Cabrera’s .177 or Jamey Carroll’s .200 with zero power. I know he is a slick fielder and I have very high hopes for him coming into the season, but at some point very soon he needs to be taken out of the lineup (and not be replaced by Jamey Carroll!). Josh Barfield isn’t doing wonderful things down in
The front office needs to do something soon. Wedge benching a player here or there is not going to cure this offense. Major changes need to be made.

Unless there is a setback, it looks like Jake Westbrook will be back in the rotation sometime next week. I know it is nice to have pitching depth, but couldn’t one of Westbrook, Sowers or Laffey bring a solid bat in return?
